There are highly recommended training courses for any and all PLC members.
National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action-packed 6-Day program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others.
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and what he must DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.
Sessions start in July. Click the linked pic above for more information and dates.
One of the requirements of NYLT is to have completed ILST – Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops. ILST is where your Scout is taught more in-depth about their acquired leadership position and serves to better the organizational and leadership skills of that Scout within his/her role. These leadership positions mentioned are referring to positions like Quartermaster, Scribe, Senior Patrol Leader, and so on. Success within that role is made more attainable after going through this training!
There is a scheduled ILST in the fall of 2021 for Chisholm Trail District. Keep watching this space for more information.
